Musical Expansion In 2020

In our current entertainment atmosphere, there are a multitude of genres and more specifically songs to choose when prepping for an event and the general vibe of the event will be lead by either your requests or the Dj’s preferences. From the perspective of the person booking the event, its is crucial to convey a relatively specific understanding of what you and your potential party goer’s prefer to listen and dance to. Many times what people listen to in their headphones and while they’re at work does not effectively cross over into a large scale dancing atmosphere now-a-days due to the massive array and remarkably easy access of music. In the old days of Dj’ing, the Mc’s music selection would typically far exceed the musical knowledge of his event attendees due to the need to purchase music prior to the Napster and Lime wire era. Now that literally all music is accessible for free or for a flat rate via platforms such as youtube, Spotify apple music, Soundcloud, ect. Everyone’s self proclaimed musical expertise, and aggressive appetite for new music has increased exponentially while artists are literally a dime a dozen.

Platforms such as the radio and the billboard top 100s are struggling to capture the entirety of the preferences being displayed by both adults and kids alike. The entertainers who have to attempt to keep a party of unique minded, specific preference having, and a bottomless appetite for new music exemplifying party goers entertained have a tendency to get the short end of the stick. This sentiment holds true more specially amongst younger crowds who have been raised expressly in the era of easy access and wide spread availability which may have successfully devalued the majority of the life expectancy and longevity of not only the musical artists careers but the capacity to keep songs on the charts and on the radio as well. All of this circles back to the dj’s and mc’s due to our need to find songs that everyone knows and loves to play consistently at events and with the rate of turnover we are currently experiences it is becoming increasingly difficult to make everyone happy. Yet as the times change as do the Dj’s and our adaptive capacity is surely one of the staples of a craft.
