Essence’s Bio
Essence (aka Big Ess, Not the Little One) is a dynamic performer with a lifelong passion for music and the arts. Her journey began at just three years old, singing in the church choir under the direction of her mother, the Choir Director. Over the years, she expanded her talents to include dance, band, and drama—mastering the clarinet, tenor saxophone, and baritone saxophone along the way.
A natural on stage, Essence earned back-to-back 2nd place finishes in the Child Stars of Tomorrow category at the legendary Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York. In high school, she was recognized with multiple awards for her musical excellence and earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her standout performance as the Dragon in Shrek: The Musical.
Essence continued her education with degrees in Psychology from Montclair State University and Liberal Studies from Wilmington University. For the past five years, she has worked as an instructor at the Atlantic County Special Services School District, where she shares her knowledge and compassion with students every day.
Despite her professional commitments, Essence’s love for performing never faded. She lights up every room she enters—whether it’s belting out karaoke hits or hyping up a crowd. In the past year, she joined the Starshield Entertainment team as an Emcee, quickly becoming known for her high-energy presence, infectious charisma, and ability to create unforgettable experiences for every event.
Essence is a true superstar, and we are proud to have her as part of the Starshield Entertainment family!

Essence began her road to stardom, as an Entertainer at the age of three years old. She continued to pursue her passion for music in 2023 when she joined Starshield Entertainment.

I make it my mission to get the crowd, at any event, feeling good and excited about what is going to happen. Being personable and making people laugh is what makes me stand out. As soon as I enter the room, I take control and get the job done.

So, my entertainment style requires a lot of energy. I like to take the time to engage with guests directly and get their input on any songs they might want to hear throughout the event. I also like to dance and sing with guests to help them let go and just have a good time.

I definitely can have more patience. Despite my experience, I do have a tendency to become overwhelmed when things don’t go according to plan. However, hiccups happen at events all the time and it is my job to fix them to ensure that each guest has the time of their lives.
